ollowing on from our best entry level sat nav award which was deservedly won by the Navman S30, we decided a review of the all singing all dancing cost no object sat nav was required.

In the process of our deliberations we were sidetracked by an older but no less deserving model.  That being the Tomtom Go 720.

Whilst Tom tom has updated its range in 2008 with the new 30 series it has to be said that the new bells and whistles didn't add much to its existing series.  Certainly not enough to justify the price premium.

So, with that in mind we accidentally found our mid-price winner for 2009.  The launch price of the Go 720 was £330 but if you shop around you can pick up the 720T for just £179.99 some £125.00 less than the new top of the range Go 930T. More... »

Navigon is to launch its 3D photo-based satnav device in the UK.  The Navigon 7210 has a Landmark 3D view that displays 3D models of points of interest.

The Navigon 7210 combines a 600MHz processor with 64MB of internal memory, 2GB of flash memory and includes a Bluetooth hands-free kit. Maps are displayed on a  4.3in touchscreen, which has been designed to look frameless.

Features include Lane Assistant Pro - which indicates the optimum lane position at junctions, while Reality View Pro provides a clear overview of complex motorway junctions.  Also included is speed limit and speed camera warnings and Curve Warner.  Curve Warner audibly and graphically warns the driver if they about to approach anyof the 55,000 dangerous bends across Europe that are registered on the device.
